Their secretary and manager Lee Fisher admitted it had been a hard introduction.

He said: “We had been in the Eastern Counties League for more than 20 years so moving to the Essex Senior League was a shock to the system.

“Everyone seems very friendly, but from being almost the most southern team, we are now the most northern.

“Because of this, although our travelling is less, we have had to put together a new squad and they are taking time to come together.

“I am sure we will soon get it right and move in the right direction, but it will take hard work.”
