UNITED ARE GLED ALL OVER

- By Steven Munroe

TWO early strikes from Andy Gledhill helped

Thame United maintain their perfect start to the season as they downed

Yaxley 2-1 in the Evo-Stik League Southern Division One Central.

Gledhill had his first after just three minutes when he caught a lazy Yaxley defence napping to slot home.

And four minutes later, he doubled his goal tally, collecting a superb through ball from Ben Sturgess before coolly firing into the net.

The visitors then enjoyed the majority of possession without threatening Craig Hill in the Thame goal and, in fact, the nearest to a goal was Marcus Mealing on 26 minutes who forced Sutton into a fine save.

They did, however, pull a goal back on 74 minutes when Tom Waumsley capitalised on a defensive error to stroke past Hill. Substitute Liam Tack then hit the woodwork for the home side as United held on for the win.

A Cameron Peters hattrick helped extend Bromsgrove Sporting’s unbeaten start to the league season as they won 5-1 against Aylesbury United.

Sporting opened the scoring after 23 minutes as Peters emphatically powered the ball off the crossbar and into the top corner from close range.

Five minutes later, Peters doubled the lead, as Richard Gregory unselfishly gave the ball to Bromsgrove's Walsall loanee, who slotted home with consummate ease.

It was three on 41 minutes, as Gregory showed strength to out muscle the defender and smoothly struck the ball away past keeper Archie Davis.

Captain Craig Jones made it 4-0 in the 55th minute as Gregory's header from a corner was subsequently buried with aplomb.

United notched their goal eight minutes later when Aaron Berry put his penalty in the top corner after Jack Wilson brought down Sean Coles.

However, the last goal went to the home side, as Peters completed his hat trick via the penalty spot after being fouled by

Kierran Lataille inside the box.

Arel Amu’s penalty helped rescue a point for Dunstable Town as they played out a thrilling 3-3 draw at home to Coleshill Town.

Saul Williams opened the scoring for the hosts after three minutes before Joe Halsall levelled proceedings on just six minutes.

The contest had its third goal within the first 10 minutes when Dunstable retook the lead through Charlie Black.

Coleshill then turned things around with two goals in two second-half minutes thanks to a penalty from Reece Leek and a composed effort from George Washbourne.

But on 66 minutes Amu stepped up to the plate to level the scores, sending Paul Hathaway the wrong way to pick up their fourth point of the season. Sutton Coldfield Town picked up their first victory of the season with a 2-0 win away at Aylesbury.

It took until the 72nd minute for the visitors to make the breakthrough as Leo Brown poked home.

And just a minute later the Royals had their second as a sensational solo effort from Jonathon Letford rounded-off a perfect away performance that moves them up to 14th.

A late Elliot Sandy penalty helped maintain

Corby Town’s unbeaten start as they edged out

AFC Dunstable 2-1. It was the visitors who opened the scoring after 40 minutes when Ryan Frater fired home as they looked for a second win of the campaign.

But the home side had other plans as Jake Bettles nestled home a deserved equaliser on 64 minutes.

And Town had their winner nine minutes from time when Adam Watkins brought down Sandy inside the box.

The Corby forward dusted himself down to score and send the Steelmen fourth in the table with 10 points to show for their efforts so far this season.
