ROBINS CARRY ON FLYING

- By Toby Smith

BOSTIK League South Central Division tabletoppers Bracknell Town maintained their 100 per cent start to the season with a 3-0 victory at South Park.

Bracknell were the livelier team in the first half and Park were thankful to goalkeeper Michael Eacott, who made a couple of excellent saves to keep the visitors out.

Joseph Grant headed onto the bar and Adam Cornell also struck the woodwork as he followed up but in the 44th minute, Grant reacted quickest to a loose ball just inside the area, shooting into the roof of the net with Eacott lying on the ground injured.

The visitors doubled their lead in the 64th minute when Grant added his second and sealed the victory in the 75th minute when Sebastian Bowerman scored from the spot.

Meanwhile, a Scott Harris hat-trick inspired

Bedfont Sports to a pulsating 4-3 victory at

Chipstead – their first win in the Bostik League.

Harris put the Eagles ahead with 25 minutes gone but their lead lasted just two minutes, Sam Page levelling things up.

The hosts’ Matthew Warren then turned things around, making it 2-1 heading into the break but Charlie Postance restored parity.

Harris then came to the fore late on, scoring twice in both the 86th and 88th minutes to hand Bedfont an unassailable lead, with Ezekiel Bademosi’s late goal proving little more than a consolation for Chipstead.

A late Harley Haag leveller saw Ware rescue a 2-2 draw at home to Molesey.

The home side the took the lead with Leigh Rose heading into the danger zone where Dave Cowley reacted quickest to slot home.

Ten minutes later, the equaliser arrived when Tayo Oyebola flicked home over goalie Harry Ricketts and then made it 2-1 when he converted after John Adusei had been denied by the Ware keeper.

But Haag scored off the inside of the post to provide a sting in the tail.

Scott Donnelly scored a second-half brace – his first coming from the penalty spot – as secondplaced Hayes & Yeading United defeated Tooting & Mitcham United 3-0. Lee Barney was also on target for United.

Chalfont St Peter were also comfortable winners, defeating Egham Town 3-0.

Charlie Mitchell’s ninth-minute strike got the ball rolling before Dan Fleming notched in the 54th minute, Mitchell grabbing his second eight minutes later to round things off.

Tyler Hatherly’s lastgasp equaliser ensured that Hertford Town avoided defeat at home to

Uxbridge, the two sides drawing 2-2.

Joe Clemo had got the home side off to a perfect start, finding the net with just two minutes gone, but Jabir Laraba made it 1-1 three minutes into the second period before Dylan Kearney gave Uxbridge the lead.

But Hatherly had the final say, grabbing the equaliser with 90 minutes on the clock.

First-half goals from Jordan Brown and Kameron English proved enough for Marlow to claim a 2-1 victory at

Westfield, Tinashe Nkoma’s 49-th minute goal proving in vain for the Yellows.

Elsewhere, the spoils were shared at the Robert Parker Stadium, where

Ashford Town recorded a 1-1 draw against Cheshunt.

Oluwole Akinsanya notched with 58 minutes on the clock to give the visitors the lead but Mark Bitmead hit back 11 minutes later to save his team’s bacon.

And FC Romania are up and running in the South Central Division following their promotion from the Essex Senior League last term.

Dumitru Grtican was the hero of the hour, the Wolves man bagging the only goal of the game in the 54th minute to hand them their first win of the season, a 1-0 triumph over

Hanwell Town at Theobalds Lane.
