- By Carl Field

REIGNING champions The New Saints now lead the JD Welsh Premier League on goal difference after they won 300 at Caernarfon Town – and early pacesetters Connah’s Quay Nomads crashed 200 at Barry Town United.

Darren Thomas, Jamie Breese and Danny Brookwell all had excellent opportunities to score for newly0promoted Cofis, but found TNS keeper Paul Harrison in fine form.

They were punished as Dean Ebbe put the Saints in front two minutes before the break and goalscorer turned provider on 59 minutes, with Ebbe teeing up Jamie Mullan.

Greg Draper added a third for Scott Ruscoe’s side ten minutes from time.

It was a third win from four for TNS and they move above Connah’s Quay, who had their 100 per cent start to the campaign ended at Jenner Park.

Kayne McLaggon put Barry ahead from the penalty spot after six minutes, with Mamodou Toure finishing off a counter attack to make it two with ten minutes remaining.

Newtown are up to third after their 200 win over Bala

Town at Latham Park. Nick Rushton put the Robins ahead on 23 minutes and he was on target again six minutes after half0time.
