HANNAH’S DOUBLE HELPS BORO STAY TOP

- By Rob Hughes

GAINSBOROUGH Trinity retained top spot with a comfortable victory over Lancaster City.

Four high-quality goals were scored, starting with Ashley Worsfold’s opener.

Latching onto a hopeful ball forward he rolled Glenn Steel and left the trio of City centre halves in his wake, before curling an effort past Aiden Stone.

Ross Hannah doubled Trinity’s lead with a contender for Goal of the Season when he chased down a long Jon Stewart clearance.

With the ball dropping over his right shoulder, the experienced hit-man struck a sweet volley over the advancing Stone to put Trinity two up seven minutes before the interval.

Matthew Blinkhorn pulled one back as Gainsborough failed to clear a hotly contested free-kick.

Trinity and Hannah, however, wrapped up the scoring, after Stone was adjudged to have handled outside his box.

The former Chester front sinking Lancaster.

A devilish left-footed free-kick on the right edge of the box cannoned off the left hand up right and into the back of the net, leaving Stone stunned.

Despite the visitors best efforts, Gainsborough shut up shop and saw out the closing stages of the game, stretching the winning run to four games on the spin. STAR MAN: R Hannah (Gainsborough) ENTERTAINMENT: ★★★★★
