DANNY INFLICTS PAYNE ON YAXLEY

- By David Senior By Chris Hughes

WELWYN GARDEN CITY 3 YAXLEY 2

INJURY-TIME strikes from Kaan Fehmi and Danny Payne gave Welwyn Garden City a dramatic win over Yaxley.

The visitors went ahead through Ollie Sutton, who struck within the first five minutes, before Payne bagged the first of his goals in first-half injurytime to level. Tom Waumsley restored Yaxley’s advantage midway through the second half, giving the visitors over 30 minutes to hold out. And a stout defensive rearguard was finally breached as Fehmi’s effort levelled proceedings after the clock ticked into added time.

Skipper Payne broke Yaxley hearts with just seconds to spare as he made it 3-2 to steal victory for the home side. STAR MAN: Danny Payne (Welwyn) ENTERTAINMENT: ★★★★★

PONTEFRACT COLLIERIES 2 STOCKSBRIDGE PARK ST 0

AN ELI Hey thunderbolt helped Pontefract Collieries secure a convincing victory over Stocksbridge Park Steels in a game they could easily have won by three or four goals.

Pontefract got off to the perfect start when Michael Dunn finished off a superb flowing move on five minutes by dinking the ball over Jordan Greaves in the Stocksbridge goal. Dunn came close to a second midway through the first half, only for his glancing header to go inches wide.

Hey had a goal ruled out for offside after the break and nodded a glaring opportunity over the bar but got his rewards on 80 minutes by hammering in a strike that left Greaves with no chance. STAR MAN: Eli Hey (Pontefract) ENTERTAINMENT: ★★★★★
