COASTERS PUT SHOTS TO SWORD

- By Ryan Lea

AFC FYLDE ended their goal drought as they put three past Aldershot Town in a convincing home win.

The Coasters dominated the match with first-half goals from Ryan Croasdale and Serhat Tasdemir giving them a 2-0 lead at the break. The performance was rounded off by Joe Cardle who put the Fylde Coast side 3-0 up in the 62nd minute.

In the seventh minute, Antigua and Barbuda international Zaine Francis-Angol chipped in a lovely ball to Tasdemir, whose free header was cleared off the line by Aldershot defender Luke Fowler.

Fylde continued to dominate with Francis-Angol involved once again, this time he got past Luke Howell and hit a low cross that somehow missed everyone.

Aldershot struggled to get into the game. It wasn’t until the 28th minute that they mustered there first shot at goal. Jacob Berkeley Agyepong picked up the ball in space 25 yards out and let fly with a low effort just wide of Jay Lynch’s right post.

In the 39th minute Cardle whipped in a corner, finding defender Neill Byrne. The Irishman nodded the ball into the path of Danny Rowe whose shot was cleared off the line and set the Shots away on a counter attack.

The ball found its way to Aldershot captain Jake Gallagher who forced Lynch into his first and only save of the game.

As the first half whistle approached Tasdemir chipped in a cross which was cleared straight into the path of Croasdale. The midfielder smashed the ball home from ten yards out, his first goal for the Fylde Coast side since his summer move from Kidderminster Harriers.

Two minutes later, Cardle found space down the left and put a brilliant ball straight to the head of youngster Tasedmir, who nodded the ball home from six yards.

As the second half progressed AFC Fylde looked like the only winners. Just after the hour, they made it 3-0. Rowe put in an inchperfect cross to pick out Cardle at the far post and the midfielder prodded the ball home.

The third goal seemed to deflate Aldershot, who are still to pick up a point on the road this season. Byrne almost made it 4-0 as he got on to the end of a drilled ball into the box from Danny Philliskirk.

Fylde never looked like conceding as Aldershot failed to register a single shot in the second half. In the final minutes,

the Coasters almost increased the scoreline as Rowe had his effort tipped over by George Legg.

Francis-Angol almost made it four as the Coasters finished the game in style, his right-footed shot was well saved by Legg who parried the ball out for a corner.
