Canaries seek form after key stalemate

- By Luke Pawley

BARWELL were able to stop their poor run of form by picking up a point at home to Biggleswade.

But they were almost a goal down inside three minutes when visiting striker Matt Ball was played in behind and saw his shot cleared off the line by Brad Gascoigne.

Owen Story almost made amends a few minutes later when he got on the end of Eddy Nisevic's whipped cross, but his volley flew over the bar from six yards.

Biggleswade had further good chances, with Jonny McNamara going close and Tom Smith missing a header at the back post.

Barwell’s Elliot Percival was then denied by a good save from the visiting goalkeeper and the teams went in level at the break with a cagey feel to the game.

The Canaries will feel they should have broken the deadlock just before the hour mark when Leicester City loanee Kian Williams burst down the right-hand side and put it across for Brady Hickey but the skipper could not keep his header on target.

Visiting goalkeeper Sam Donkin was then at full stretch to deny Hickey’s dangerous free-kick before Barwell’s best chance of the game fell to Nisevic who found himself in the box only for the his to be saved and for Hickey to fail to make the most of the rebound.
