DELAY DOESN’T DENY OLYMPIC

- By Ben Clarke

TWO first-half goals saw the points shared in a game that saw kick-off delayed due to Rushall being held up in traffic.

The first half saw both sides pass the ball around, with Needham looking the more likely side to score as they created early chances.

However, in the 26th minute Rushall were awarded a penalty after a break led to a foul, with Daniel Waldrom making no mistake as he tucked the spot-kick into the corner.

Needham responded well and equalised seven minutes later following a good passing move that culminated with Adam Mills crossing the ball for Luke Ingram to lash home from eight yards.

The second half was a similar story, but it was Rushall who were the more likely ones to score this time, as they began to have a bit more time and space to play the ball around.

The home side did have chances and a late penalty claim, however stout defending, from both sides prevented any addition to the score line, leaving both the hosts and Rushall disappointed about what could have been in what was, in the end, a fair result.
