TRING ATHLETIC are the new leaders of the Premier Division, as their 5-1 home win over Harpenden Town saw them leapfrog Biggleswade FC to move two points clear at the top.
Kieran Turner’s excellent 29th-minute solo effort put the hosts ahead and they doubled their lead three minutes later when Dave O’Connor finished from close range following a corner.
Adam Mead pulled one back for Harpenden but late goals from Carl Mensah, Turner and Ben Johnson wrapped up the points
Cockfosters remain in the bottom three after they drew 1-1 at home with London Tigers.
Alex Michaelides’ 32nd-minute header put the hosts ahead and despite Cockfosters losing goalkeeper Adam Seymour to injury, Tigers could only muster a 76th-minute equaliser.
In the midweek Challenge Trophy games, Second Division MK Gallacticos provided the shock of the round as they dumped Premier Division Stotfold out of the competition with a 5-2 victory.
