Pennery pays off for plucky Gosport

- By Simon Grigor

A LATE goal from the visitors settled a match that could have gone either way in which the two goalkeepers both played exceptionally well.

The visitors’ Patrick O’Flaherty was first in action, pushing away Lewis Cole’s left-footer.

Harrow’s Hafed AlDroubi then joined the party, keeping out Ryan Pennery’s shot on the turn.

Dean Fenton’s header then clipped the crossbar. A big scramble in the Harrow goalmouth saw two great Harrow blocks before AlDroubi dropped on the ball.

Much of the second half became a personal battle between Harrow’s George Moore and O’Flaherty.

First, Moore angled a shot just wide of the far post, before O’Flaherty kept out his shot after he had run from his own half. A 25yarder was then tipped away. Al-Droubi kept out Alexander Lafleur at the far post.

After 84 minutes came the game’s only goal. Bradley Stone, only on the pitch five minutes, broke forward, and played the ball infield to Pennery, who fired home from an angle.

O’Flaherty then turned over Moore’s free-kick and Gosport held on as the game wound down.
