Trawler Boys falter after red

-

THE SENDING off of Shaun Bammant three minutes after the Trawlerboys had taken the lead turned this game in Tamworth’s favour as they hit three goals in the final quarter.

Lowestoft had taken a 65th minute lead when Kieran Higgs broke clear to rifle the ball into the roof of the net.

That goal was cancelled out by an even more impressive one by Kyle Finn who found the top corner from fully 30 yards.

Bammant saw red for dissent and with the man advantage Tamworth pressed on and Chris Lait nipped in to convert a free kick in the 81st minute and just two minutes later Tyrell Waite pounced from close range after Elvijs Putnins had failed to hold the ball.

Lowestoft had earlier had a goal disallowed on the half hour as Bammant was ruled offside as he converted Higgs’ cross.

Both keepers were kept busy with relatively routine saves but Tamworth’s Jasbir Singh twice excelled saving Adam Smith’s free kick at the foot of the post and in the closing minutes superbly tipping over a rasping drive from Matt Brown.

The game was held up for ten minutes in the first half whilst Tamworth’s Regan Upton received lengthy treatment before being carried off on a stretcher.
