TAYLOR AT THE DOUBLE AS TOWN FIND FORM

- By Bryan Hale

STRATFORD put their recent woes behind them with their first win since the opening day as they were too strong for bottom side Bedworth.

The hosts pushed from the start and went ahead when Mike Taylor headed in Chris Cox’s 16th-minute cross.

Five minutes later they should have gone two up when Wilson Carvalho seized on a mistake in the Bedworth defence to surge through and skip past advancing keeper Dan Crane only to then shoot against the post with the goal gaping.

Bedworth were struggling to make an impact, and Stratford had another chance on the half hour when Albi Skendi threaded through to Taylor who dragged wide from 12 yards.

Having hardly been in the game the Greenbacks snatched a surprise equaliser four minutes into the second half when Carvalho gave the ball away in midfield and Kai Tonge raced away to slot past Ross Etheridge.

But Stratford claimed back the lead on 55 minutes when Will Grocott’s free kick into the Bedworth penalty area fell to Lewis Wilson who fired past Crane.

And they made sure of the points in the 79th minute when Grocott went past Crane before pulling the ball back from the byline to provide Taylor with a straightforward finish.
