STAMFORD 1 MORPETH TOWN 2
By Gary Salisbury
STAMFORD’S unbeaten run came to an end against a strong Morpeth.
The visitors took the lead from the spot after Joe Burgess gave away the penalty, Joseph Walton made no mistake with a fierce drive.
The lead was doubled when Jeffrey Henderson stooped low to head through a crowd from a corner.
Stamford made a triple substitution which paid off immediately Jon Challinor with a stunning run and shot from a tight angle hit the bar and Sam Grouse headed in.
Liam Adams had a curling effort fly just wide and at the other end Morpeth’s Liam Henderson saw his thunderbolt superbly tipped over by Dan Haystead.
