Hereford slump in horror display
HEREFORD 0 ASHTON UNITED 2
FIRST-HALF goals from Matthew Regan and Matthew Chadwick gave Ashton a welcome second victory of the season.
But Hereford, who sacked boss Pete Beadle in midweek, looked increasingly rudderless.
Ashton forced their first corner on 17 minutes and it brought the first goal.
Chadwick swung in the flag-kick and skipper Regan soared in unchallenged to net.
Four minutes later came a second corner and a second goal.
Chadwick picked the ball up on the right after it was halfcleared to him and he cut in to drive a shot into the bottom corner.
Jordon Sangha, on loan from Walsall, had a glorious chance to add a third five minutes before the break but failed to control a cross from substitute Bradley Jackson.
Green found his luck was out a minute later when he powered a header against the bar.
But it was Ashton, who forced nine corners to their hosts’ two, who looked more likely to score again in what was a tight game.
Only fine saves by Martin Horsell from Sangha and Craig Hobson prevented an even more emphatic defeat for the home side.
