St Albans are on the march

ST ALBANS CITY 2 CONCORD RANGERS 0

- By Jake Ellacott

ST ALBANS City made it three wins on the bounce with a comfortable victory against Concord Rangers.

It was the visitors who started the game the brighter of the two sides,, shading possession and going close to grabbing the opener just after the half hour mark — but Dean Snedker made an impressive reaction save at almost point-blank range to deny Alex Wall.

That chance proved to be a changing point in the game, with the home side taking the lead ten minutes later.

The Saints worked the ball down the left and Ben Wyatt marched into the box, but the ball broke loose and fell to David Noble, who took a touch and sent a wellstruck drive past Beasant and into the bottom corner.

The hosts almost doubled their lead on the hour mark when Moyo cut to his right foot around ten yards out and struck a venomous drive, but the effort crashed off the bar and the visitors managed to clear.

However, they didn’t have to wait long to finally get that second and final goal and it came with 15 minutes left on the clock when Percy Kiangebeni picked the ball up on the edge of the box and dinked past three defenders before slotting the ball under Beasant, securing all three points.
