Late own goal sends Bay packing

FOUR-TIMES FA Vase winners Whitley Bay crashed out at local rivals Whickham.
The hosts edged home in extratime at the Glebe. Andy Bulford shot across goal and Jack Foalle shot just over the bar in a cagey opening half hour.
Whickham debutant Matty Pattison was the stand-out player in a scrappy affair, the schemer’s free-kick deflected wide.
Bay were nevertheless ahead on 41 minutes when Foalle atoned from eight yards after Ollie Martin had cut in from the left.
Dan Taggart then headed just over from Luke Salmon’s corner before the home side levelled in stoppage time. Craig McFarlane lost possession and was made to pay when Dale Burrell arrowed a 25-yard drive into the top corner.
