THE BUCKS THANKFUL AS COWANS LEVELS LATE

- By Richard Worton

THE BUCKS left it late to maintain their unbeaten home record, an 89th-minute goal from close range by Henry Cowans cancelling out Connor Dimaio’s opener.

County edged the first half, one in which it took both sides a while to get going. Frank Mulhern was the focal point and it was a corner that he earned, forcing a save from Max Bramley, that lead to County going ahead.

Bramley didn’t get a decisive punch clear, and Connor Dimaio picked the ball up and placed a precise effort home.

County could have doubled their lead early in the second half; Mulhern’s bicycle kick from 10 yards after Darren Stephenson’s blocked effort smacked off the crossbar, then an Adam Thomas header from a corner struck the post.

In between, Ben Hinchcliffe’s terrific double save denied first Darryl Knights off the crossbar, the keeper blocking Daniel Udoh’s follow-up with his face.

Gavin Cowan changed the Bucks’ formation, and on 89 minutes, Cowans bagged.

Jim Gannon’s side will probably feel hard done by, having wasted early chances when on top, whilst Gavin Cowan praised his side’s patience and character to take a point in a tense encounter.

STAR MAN: Henry Cowans (AFC Telford) ENTERTAINMENT: ★★★★★
