GREENE LIGHT IS OFFERED AT LAMB

- By Alex Milne

CHAIRMAN Bob Andrews is backing Dennis Greene to help bring the locals back to Tamworth.

Greene, the former Boston United, St Neots and Histon boss, took over the reins of the Southern League Premier Division Central side Lambs following the resignation of head coach Mike Fowler last week.

Crowds have fallen to an average of below 600 at The Lamb this season after an underwhelming start to their first season back at Step 3.

And Andrew believes Greene is the man to help bring the crowds back and steer the Lambs back into National League North.

“We wanted to change the situation,” Andrews told the Birmingham

Mail. “We have promoted from within a lot before and we felt we wanted a new voice.”

“Dennis is someone who can offer a new line of thought and is hungry for a new challenge. He is a good character and I think he is someone who will want a bit of banter as well.

“I would love to see the fans come back,” he said. “I understand why the fans have drifted away. Over the past couple of years we have lost more games than we have won.”

“Hopefully we can win them back and we need to do that by getting results, scoring goals and having a successful first team.”

Greene has a full week to work with his Lambs side before taking charge of his first game against Royston Town on Saturday.
