Gray goal earns Wire replay

- By Jason Button

CONSETT and Warrington will need a replay following a high-scoring draw in the North East.

Luke Carr got the goal-rush under way early before Michael Mackay added another soon after for the rampant Steelmen.

First half goals from Bohan Dixon and Dylan Vassallo tied the game up but Arjan Purewal pulled the hosts back in front before Tony Gray earned a replay.

Both sides have started their respective seasons well but it was the Steelmen who started this game the brighter.

Carr received the ball in midfield before curling a 25yarder past Tony McMillan.

A shock was on the cards when Mackay beat the offside trap and slotted home.

The Wire soon got back into the game through Dixon. He did well to turn his marker and hit a left footed shot to bring the game back to 2-1.

The equaliser came when Vassallo nodded home Jack Mackreth’s cross.

Just before the hour it was Consett who found the next goal of the game.

Darren Holden’s long throwin was headed into the six yard box and Purewal got his head to the ball for Consett’s third.

Warrington equalised yet again through Gray’s first touch, heading home from close range following great work by Mackreth as the game finished all-square. STAR MAN: Luke Carr (Consett) ENTERTAINMENT: ★★★★★
