DRINKS ON DO-ITALL SAM

- By David Lawrence

HOT-SHOT striker Sam Adams scored two goals and then replaced redcarded keeper Charlie Horlock in goal to help

Hastings United notch a memorable 4-3 FA Cup victory at Leiston.

The striker’s prowess with the gloves, plus some resolute defending, denied the hosts after they laid siege to the Arrows goal in search of an equaliser.

Earlier Dan Ajakaiye’s fifth-minute opener for Hastings had been overturned by two quick goals from Joe Jefford and Matt Blake.

Adams’s superb shot levelled the match on 30 minutes and two further goals from Kelvin Ogboe and Adams’ second from the penalty spot on 55 minutes looked to have put the tie safe for Hastings at 4-2.

However, Horlock handled outside the area on 57 minutes necessitating Adams to show his shotstopping skills in goal.

Blake capitalised, pulling a goal back to make it 4-3 on 68 minutes but despite further red cards for Sam Cruttwell and Jamie Fielding, Hastings’ higher-division opponents couldn’t make the breakthrough to force a replay.

Pop singer and co-owner Olly Murs saw his Coggeshall Town team hit the right notes as they defeated Walton Casuals 2-0 with goals from Ross Wall and Michael Gyasi. Tauren Roberts saw red for Walton.

Ten-man Egham Town came back from 3-1 down to force a replay with

Brightlingsea, with Enock Soganile heading a last-minute equaliser.

Matt Baxter and two Jake Gould strikes had put the visitors in the driving seat but Kezie Ibe with two, including a penalty, and Soganile salvaged a 33 draw for the hosts who had Greg Hayden sent off for a bad tackle. Cleethorpes and

Bamber Bridge will also do battle again as they too shared a 3-3 draw.

The Owls led 3-1 but Brad Carsley was the hero for visiting Bamber as he grabbed a hat-trick. Brody Robertson (two) and Josh Batty scored for the home team.

Isai Marselia scored three as Mickleover

Sports cruised past Anstey Nomads running out 7-1 winners. Nathan Jarman (two), Oliver Roberts and Jimmy Phillips also netted.

Lewis Archer notched a brace in Hednesford Town’s 3-1 win at Rugby Town. Richard Blythe scored for Rugby with Dan Cockerline scoring the Pitmen’s second.

Kieran Lavery scored at both ends in Dorking Wanderers’ 4-2 win at Leverstock. Jason Prior’s penalty for Dorking was wiped out by a Lavery own goal and the visitors then went 2-1 down after 30 minutes.

Goals from Niall McManus, Tom Tolfrey and a late Lavery strike at the right end secured Wanderers comeback.

Goals either side of the break from Joel Nouble (penalty) and Chinedu McKenzie against Erith Town booked Haringey

Borough’s place in the next round. Workington were too strong for Knaresborough Town as they ran out 4-1 winners with a flurry of late second-half goals.

Conor Tinnion’s 15thminute strike broke the deadlock with Scott Allinson not doubling the lead until 68 minutes.

Jason Walker and Sam Joel both scored headers from Niall Cowperthwaite set-pieces to wrap up victory with Ben Cohan netting a late consolation.

Declan Bacon scored a sizzler for Alfreton who came from two down to earn another crack at

Sutton Coldfield after a 22 draw.

Jon Letford and Lee Smith had put the hosts ahead but Richard Peniket and Bacon levelled.

Harvey Kileen’s goal against Lowestoft was enough to ensure Hanwell’s name is in the hat for the next round.

Sean Marks scored the decisive goal for AFC

Hornchurch who overcame East Grinstead 2-1.

George Purcell bagged the opener for Church which was cancelled out by a brilliant curling effort by George Landais.

And Marks popped up with the winner just before the hour mark.
