Motor Men roll on and dim Star
REDBRIDGE had to live on their nerves in the second half before they finally saw off Peterborough Northern Star.
The Motor Men had plenty of chances in the first half, but only managed to convert one.
After three minutes, Samuel Phillips had a low drive that was saved comfortably by Quincy Shorunmu.
Jack Stevenson’s pass playing Ashley Blackburn through on 31 minutes and he found the opener when his curled effort hit the back of the net.
In the second half, Peterborough upped their tempo and had a couple of chances, with Josh Rosser very unlucky when he smashed a shot off the post with Lewis Greene well beaten.
In the 83rd minute, Liam Rodden nearly equalised following a free kick move, but Greene made a fine save.
However, Rodden should have done a great deal better earlier when he lofted the ball over the bar from less than six yards out.
Larry Asare could have scored twice for Star but first he dallied over his shot and then he struck the post when it was easier to score – although Redbride had done enough to seal the tie.
