Ash on fire to earn first Seagulls victory

WESTON claimed their first win of the season with a narrow win over relegation rivals Hungerford Town.

Jarrad Welch had an early shot for Weston, who made the livelier start and were soon pushing Hungerford back.

However Hungerford slowly gained a foothold and Danilo Orsi-Dadomo forced a low save from Luke Purnell before Darren Foxley failed to pounce on the rebound.

Bradley Ash thought he was through on goal for Weston but defender Marvel Expiteta came across to deny him a shot on goal. After the interval Welch had a header saved on the stretch by Jacob Weaver and Hungerford substitute Conor Lynch wriggled free but could only shoot at Purnell.

The Crusaders then conceded a penalty when Weaver fouled Ash in the penalty area and the striker converted to give the Seagulls the lead.

The hosts failed to produce another clear-cut chance and the Weston defence stood firm. Ash then had a chance for his second from the spot as Weaver again transgressed but the goalkeeper guessed right and saved.
