GOSPORT won their first game in five outings as they saw off promotion chasers Hendon iat Privett Park.

The first goal went to Hendon’s Shaquille Hippolyteatrick, who put the ball in the back of the net against the run of play.

The excitement did not stop as a wonderful cross was launched into Gosport player-manager Craig McAllister only to curl low past Danny Boness to cancel out the Greens’ earlier advantage.

Before half-time, Borough piled on the pressure, creating three clear-cut chances.

It was the yellow and blue alliance who started better, however, after the break.

An inspired save from Boness kept the score-line to one apiece, but the weather condtions played 12th man as the ball looped over the Hendon keeper in no man’s land.

It only required Tony Lee to tap into the empty net.

Proceedings became tense and, in the last action of the match, a driven ball ended up back post at the feet of Patrick Suracito to confirm the points.

The full time whistle blew and there was a feeling of relief around the ground as the Hampshire side appeared to be rejuvenated. BOTTOM of the table Staines Town failed to turn round their fortunes as they made the short journey to Imber Court for a derby fixture.

There was an early chance for Staines as Thomas Gogo played George Barker through after Ethan Chislet had lost possession.

Barker was unlucky to score as his shot clattered the inside of the woodwork.

It was just over the half an hour mark when Luke Robertson received the ball wide for the Police and took it into the box before it was pulled back to Jack Mazzone, who buried it in the bottom left corner.

Blues continued to play football and pass the ball well but didn't really create anything further.

Chislet had a good chance to double the Blues’ lead after the break when he was put through, but his chipped shot crept over the bar.

Blues doubled their with ten minutes to go from Jonathan Hippolyte’s long pass from the right .

It was received by Jack Knight who put it well beyond Louis Dixon from inside the box.

Staines can reflect on a better performance but it was not enough to wrest the points from the Blues.
