CRAIG IS A GOAL FEEN-D

- By Kieran Wellington

CRAIG Feeney was involved in all four goals as AFC Totton eased to a 4-0 away win at bottom club Barnstaple Town.

Totton opened the scoring after ten minutes when Ben McLean found Feeney out wide and his ball in was clipped home by Alex Haynes.

Feeney then netted a quickfire double, assisted both times by Justin Bennett. He still had a lot to do for his first but squeezed in from a difficult angle.

Bennett’s aerial prowess led to Totton’s third, nodding on to Feeney who couldn’t miss with the goal gaping.

With five minutes to go, Feeney, on a hat-trick, unselfishly slid in Stuart Green to cap a good afternoon for the Hampshire side.

Cirencester Town also won with ease, beating second-bottom Fleet

Town 4-0. The four goals were spread equally across both halves, with Aidan Bennett timing his run into the box expertly to open the scoring after nine minutes.

After hitting the post midway through the first half, Ben Whitehead was not to be denied a second time as he finished superbly from a tight angle.

After easing off for half an hour, play-off hopefuls Cirencester scored twice in two minutes.

Jack Freeman scored a beauty from outside the area before Alan Griffin took advantage of some slack defending to make it four.

Four was also the magic number in Cinderford as they hit a quartet at the Causeway Ground to subject Bideford to their fourth straight league defeat, the Foresters running out 4-2 winners.

Blaine Waugh bookended Cinderford’s strikes as he ripped apart the Bideford defence.

Dan MacDonald’s penalty after 34 minutes made it 2-0 before Richard Greaves’ effort two minutes before the break.

Cinderford knew the job was done at half-time and the second half drifted by until Waugh’s second after 71 minutes.

Jordan Ricketts responded a minute later and Liam Gregory scored

late on to give the scoreline some respectability from a Bideford perspective but they were left to deal with another long journey home without victory. Meanwhile, Winchester City won at home for the first time since the opening day as they held firm to scrape past

Larkhall Athletic 1-0. Substitute IK Hill scored the only goal ten minutes from time, having just returned to the club from Alresford.

Larkhall’s Wayne Nderemani had a shot smartly saved by Ryan Price and the ensuing scramble involved a goalline clearance and a shot off the woodwork as Winchester’s goal led a charmed life.

At Melksham Town, substitute Reece Rusher scored in the dying moments to hand the hosts all three points in a 1-0 victory over Slimbridge.

Slimbridge had earlier hit the bar through Steve Jackson and Melksham could have sealed the three points earlier when Luke Ballinger also hit the woodwork.

Slimbridge’s Dean Turner could’ve turned the game at 0-0 but his effort rebounded back off the post in a tie that looked destined to be goalless before Rusher’s late intervention.

Elsewhere, Mangotsfield United’s terrible home form continued as Toumani Sidibe’s goal was the difference as they fell to a 1-0 home reverse at the hands of Highworth Town.

Sidibe’s pace down the right flank took him clear of his marker and he slotted the ball into the corner from ten yards just before the hour.

Clayton Fortune spurned the best chances for the hosts as they slipped to a tenth defeat in 14 games.

Meanwhile, terrible conditions in Portsmouth led to a postponement between two promotionchasing hopefuls

Moneyfield and Street at the Moneyfields Sports Ground, a waterlogged pitch curtailing a vital encounter.
