MAGPIES ROBBED AT DEATH

BOTH Bury Town and Dereham Town scored in injury-time to tee up a 3-3 Isthmian League North thriller.

After a slow start to the game, Ryan Horne was given his marching orders off after just 17 minutes for Bury.

Cemal Ramadan scored the only goal of the first half on 32 minutes to give Bury a narrow lead at the break.

After the break the game burst into life and just after the hour mark Dereham pulled level from the penalty spot with Karol Wengrzik getting the equaliser.

Thomas McLeish then saw red on 67 minutes for Dereham, but a towering header from Ollie Ebbage gave his side the lead in his absence four minutes later.

But only a minute later Jake Kerins hit a screamer from distance which flew past the keeper to pull Bury level.

In the fourth minute of added time, Joe Gatting struck to seemingly hand Dereham a late three points.

But there would a further twist as Ramadan grabbed his second amid frantic scenes a minute later, smashing home an equaliser.

League leaders Aveley secured a 2-1 victory over

Mildenhall Town thanks to a second-half strike from Alex Akrofi.

The Millers went ahead inside just ten minutes when Andy Freeman hammered home from closerange to get the visitors off to a flyer.

But Town broke back and it was ex-Aveley man Hussain Jaffa that forced the equaliser with a neat finish into the corner of the net on the brink of half-time.

With the game ebbing away, the Millers kept plugging away and they received their just reward 25 minutes from time as Akrofi fired home to secure an 11th league victory of the season. Meanwhile, Maldon &

Tiptree maintained their dominant start to the campaign with a commanding 4-1 win over Romford as Eddie-Louis Dsane struck a sensationa­l hat-trick.

The forward opened his account after 12 minutes with a composed finish

into the net and he notched up his second shortly after with another fine finish.

Matthew Briggs hit the Jammers third on 57 minutes, before George Forrest slotted home a consolatio­n goal nine minutes later.

But Dsane completed the rout in style in added time to cap off a dazzling individual display.

England goalkeeper Nick Pope’s younger brother Josh was the hero as his penalty save ensured that Soham Town Rangers clinched a 1-0 win over Canvey Island.

The decisive score came in the tenth minute when a cross from the left was trapped between the chest of Marlon Agyakwa and the back of an opposing defender.

When the ball fell loose it was picked up by midfielder Ryan Auger who found the bottom corner from 20 yards.

Canvey were awarded a penalty on 32 minutes when James White’s powerful shot hit the outstretch­ed arm of a defender.

Martin Tuohy stepped up but saw his spot kick saved by Pope diving to his right, with the penalty a good height for the goalkeeper.

Ex-Barnet man George Sykes struck the winner in a five goal thriller as

Tilbury beat Great Wakering 3-2. The Dockers went ahead through Lewis Smith, but Jake Gordon slammed home either side of half-time to take the lead.

But the visitors struck twice to claim the win as Mitchell Gilbey and Sykes scored to claim full share of the spoils. Meanwhile, Basildon

United fell to a 1-0 defeat against Coggeshall Town as Corey Davidson’s strike proved the difference to remain a firm third in the table. Bottom of the table

Witham Town secured their second win of the season as John Watson bagged a brace either side of half-time to sink midtable AFC Sudbury in style.
