WORKINGTON 4 HEDNESFORD TOWN 2

The Non-League Football Paper - - SATURDAY MATCH CENTRE - By John Walsh

WORKINGTON had to come from behind to earn their first league win since September 1.

They took the lead on 20 minutes when Conor Tinnion fired home with a low shot from 16 yards out.

Town keeper Josef Bursik twice denied Kieran Maguire with important stops before the visitors came back to lead by half-time.

Full-back Nathan Fox got forward down the left and a low drive beat Aaron Taylor to go in off the post.

Then in time added on, Sam Griffiths forced home a corner to put the Pitmen in front.

But Workington responded well, inspired by hard-working centre forward Jason Walker, though he was unable to get on the scoresheet.

The equaliser came on 55 minutes when home skipper Gari Rowntree fired home from the edge of the area after a corner was partially cleared.

Three minutes later, Rowntree’s long ball found Scott Allison, who turned his man cleverly before firing across Bursik into the bottom corner.

And the victory was clinched seven minutes from the end when Jordan Holt got on the end of a good cross from Maguire to steer past Bursik.
