Debut boy Asante earns triple crown
AKWASI ASANTE registered a stunning hat-trick on his Chester debut.
The 26-year-old former Grimsby Town striker returned an imperious performance for the Cestrians, who played for an hour of the match with ten men after winger Dan Mooney had been dismissed.
Asante’s first goal came after 27 minutes, when he rose above his marker to power home a close-range header following a cross from Craig Mahon.
After 31 minutes, midfielder Mooney gave referee Barry Lamb no option but to brandish a second yellow card after he lunged into Joe Wheatley.
Three minutes into the second period, Asante doubled his side’s advantage when he dispossessed Elliott, and placed a delightful effort past Jon Maddison.
Wheatley gave the north-easterners brief respite after 56 minutes with a well-struck 20yard effort that beat Grant Shenton.
Normal service was resumed after 69 minutes when Anthony Dudley set Asante free, the striker cut inside and rifled a low 20-yard effort past the overworked Maddison.
