IT’S JUST SO CLASSY FOR THE SUPER VICS

- By Gary Langley

NORTHWICH VICTORIA 3 SILSDEN 0

NORTHWICH Victoria eased through to the next round with a comfortable looking win that was ultimately hard earned.

Vics went ahead on 13 minutes when a corner from Harvey Whyte was met by the on-rushing Brandon Barski, whose header gave the Silsden keeper no chance.

Northwich continued to press and nearly had a second shortly after when Brian Matthews had a shot from outside the box that had the Silsden defence troubled, but it flew wide.

The lead was doubled on 38 minutes when keeper Sam Lee struggled to deal with a cross coming in from Joel Brownhill on the flank and the ball fell to Andy Fitzgerald – his powerful effort from close range flew through the pack and into the net.

Silsden had a chance just before the break when Chris Wademan had space, but fired just over the bar.

The second half started with the visitors in the ascendancy, but the pitch started to get slippy, making life awkward for both teams.

The Vics continued to create the better chances with many falling to Brownhill who was frustrated by Lee in the Silsden goal.

The striker finally found the net five minutes from the end, scoring from the spot to seal the win after Darryl Mason had been brought down in the box. STAR MAN: Joel Brownhill (Northwich) ENTERTAINMENT: ★★★★★
