Taylor triumphs to aid Wanderers win

IN A controversial match that saw plenty of action, it all came down to a free kick to decide the winner between Bognor Regis Town FC and Dorking Wanderers.

It was Wanderers who prevailed 1-0 courtesy of the boot of Lewis Taylor who curled his free kick low and around the wall keeping it out of reach of substitute keeper Ricardo Teixeira for what proved to be the winner.

The free-kick itself was surrounded in controversy as keeper Dan Lincoln was shown a red card for handling the ball outside of the box and they were punished again immediately afterwards.

The home side did well not to allow another goal to be scored playing a man down and under the cosh for much of the second half of this encounter.

With four minutes of added time, the Rocks had an opportunity to draw level as Jimmy Muitt swung in a dangerous free-kick from wide right.

It wasn’t to be however, despite calls for a handball the referee didn’t agree, as the Rocks slipped to a second home defeat in five days.

With a trip to Kingstonian coming up next Saturday, the Rocks will need to gather themselves for what will be a crucial match in the context of their entire season.
