Dicks masterminds a Swifts surge

BUT LEADERS VITAL POINT EAGLES BATTLE BACK FOR POINT

- By Gary White

JULIAN Dicks’ Heybridge Swifts claimed an exciting victory over an in form Tilbury side who were on an impressive run under new manager Marc Harrison.

The visitors took the lead in the first half when Thomas Barton rose highest at the far post from a corner and planted a firm header into the back of the net.

The excellent Harrison Chatting equalised five minutes later with a low drive from the edge of the area after fine build-up play down the left and a perfectly judged cutback from Jack Adlington-Pile.

Jody Mongoy put Swifts ahead on 62 minutes when he ran on to a through ball and showed plenty of composure to expertly chip over the onrushing keeper.

Swifts protected their lead with aplomb and recorded Dicks’ eighth win in ten league games since taking charge, moving them to within 4 points of the league leaders Bowers & Pitsea.
