ALLEN HITS BACK WITH SPIREITES CLEAR-OUT

-

MARTIN ALLEN has listed six of his Chesterfield players available for transfer or loan in a bid to turn their season around. The experienced manager has been unable to address the club’s slide following relegation from the Football League last season. Before yesterday’s match against Salford, the Spireites were winless in their last 19 league games and sat in the relegation zone. Allen has moved to get rid of defender Michael Nelson, midfielders Kyel Reid and Robbie Weir and striker Marc-Antoine Fortune. Goalkeepers Shwan Jalal is available for loan after returning to fitness and Joe Anyon is transfer listed, while forward Zavon Hines has his contract terminated by mutual consent and has signed for Bromley. Allen said: “Clearly, changes need to be made as we have not won enough points and to be honest, I’m fed up of hearing we played well and that it was a good performance, only to draw.” The club have also banned a supporter, who threw a bottle onto the pitch during their recent home game against Bromley, for the rest of the season.
