Rangers end poor run with goal glut

THE DOUBLE EDGE VICTORY in messy match

- By Andrew Snaith By Chris Elsley

STAFFORD Rangers recorded their first win in seven league games with by thumping local rivals Hednesford Town at a rain soaked Marston Road.

The game got off to an explosive start with a goal for each side in the opening six minutes.

The home side were first to strike on three mins when Jake Charles tapped home after Andy Haworth’s shot had been blocked by Josef Bursik.

Hednesford were soon on level terms. A long clearance from Bursik sent Michael Howard clear and he fired past George SykesKenworthy in the Stafford goal.

Cuff wasted a couple of other great chances for Stafford but one of the key talking points of the first half came when Sykes-Kenworthy seemingly slid the ball over the line after spilling Romario Martin’s initial shot but neither referee nor his assistant was in a position to award the goal.

Stafford took advantage five minutes before half time when Cuff cut inside Kieron Dawes to fire the home side back in front.

Charles made it 3-1 in the 57th minute when he turned in Haworth’s corner at the near post then completed his hat trick ten minutes later after Haworth was again the supplier.

Hednesford never really looked like reducing the deficit.
