Awesome four-some as Nash smash Boro

- By Chris Philpotts

NUNEATON BOROUGH were undone in the second half by a Curzon Ashton side who put some distance between them and the National League North relegation places.

In front of their highest crowd of the season of 915 fans, Boro struck first through Blackpool loanee Yusifu Ceesay, who grabbed his second in as many games to give the hosts a deserved lead.

The Nash drew level from the penalty spot after Olly Crankshaw converted what appeared to be a harshly awarded spot-kick for the visitors.

The sides were deadlocked until the 65th minute, when Lewis Reilly tapped home the first of a glut of goals for the visitors in the final quarter of the match.

Curzon skipper Jonathan Hunt doubled the visitors’ advantage with 11 minutes to go, towering home a header to give the Nash a commanding lead – but not one Nuneaton gave up chasing.

That’s because they clawed a goal back with two minutes remaining, when former England Under-21 centre-half Miles Addison slid home some hope for the basement boys.

But hope was all it was, as Luke Wall’s late penalty put paid to the comeback and ensured Curzon ran out 4-2 winners.
