TROKE SPECIAL SINKS THE REDS

- By Colin Stoner

A SUPERBLY-TAKEN Alex Troke strike combined with some determined defending earned Bedworth their first away league win.

The Greenbacks had to play the final 20 minutes with 10 men after Ricardo Dudley collected two bookings,

But having taken the lead through Troke’s 43rd-minute finish, Bedworth kept Redditch’s attacks at bay and, led by the excellent Tom Sharpe and Elliot Parrott in defence, they were deserved winners.

Redditch had the better of the first-half chances, with Bedworth keeper Adam Harrison tipping over a Robbie Bunn 20-yarder. Ahmed Ali squandered a golden chance to put the hosts ahead on 37 minutes when he prodded wide from eight yards.

The miss proved costly two minutes before halftime when Bedworth scored from great interplay down the right. Montel Gibson’s pass sent Dudley free and Troke raced into the near-post to finish.

The Reds struggled to produce a response, even with the man advantage, with Robbie Bunn having the most threatening moment.
