HUNT BAGS SCHOLARS DOUBLE

- By Alan Evans

BRIGHTLINGSEA Regent moved into the top half of the Bostik Premier after scoring two second-half goals at Potters Bar Town.

The Rs had the best chance of a very scrappy first half late on, with Aaron Condon forcing a strong save Town keeper Berkley Laurencin.

Regent soon took the lead after the restart. Star striker Billy Hunt was brought down in the box and would pick himself up to convert the penalty on 47 minutes.

The visitors continued to attack and Laurencin again had to make a good save from Hunt as Billy Jones played him in.

Harvey Hodd then beat his man, only to fire over from a tight angle with 14 minutes to go as Brightlingsea continued to pour forward.

Potters Bar were reduced to ten men with ten minutes remaining, as Laurencin was shown a red card for an off-field incident after jumping a perimeter fence to collect the ball.

The Rs capitalised on playing against a standin keeper with Hunt doubling up in stoppage time, beating his man before firing past the makeshift keeper to wrap up the points.
