LEADERS BONT ARE HELD BY AFAN LIDO

- By Carl Field

PENYBONT remain top and unbeaten in Nathaniel Cars Welsh League Division One after twice coming from behind with ten men to earn a point from a 3-3 thriller against fourth-placed Afan Lido.

Hosts Penybont drew first blood through Luke Borrelli, who also got the late winner in this season’s reverse fixture.

Ben Thomas headed Lido level, before a late challenge on Sacha Walters saw Kieran Howard sent off for Penybont before the break.

Mark Jones fired the visitors in front, but Bont were soon on level terms after keeper Rory McCreesh brought down Kane Owen and Borrelli made no mistake from the penalty spot.

Alex Gammond put Lido back in front for a second time, but Marcus Griffiths netted a third for Penybont which meant the spoils were shared.

The leaders are still two points clear of Haverfordwest

County, who themselves also twice had to come from behind before drawing 2-2 with Cambrian & Clydach in the battle of second against third.

Kieron Coles put Cambrian ahead, before Elliot Scotcher pulled the Bluebirds level.

Coles then grabbed his second, but Cambrian would be denied maximum points when Scotcher bagged his own brace from the spot after Danny Williams had been fouled.

Haverfordwest have also played one game more than Penybont.

Cambrian will now turn their attention towards next Saturday’s Nathaniel MG Cup Final against JD Welsh Premier League outfit Cardiff

Met at Barry’s Jenner Park.
