INVICTA’S FIVE-STAR SHOWING SPARKLES

- By Richard Murrill

FOLKESTONE Invicta made it ten consecutive home wins in all competitions.

The home side opened the scoring as early as the second minute when Scott Heard slipped the ball through to Alfie Paxman who slotted.

It was 2-0 in the 43rd minute when Johan Ter Horst fired into the net after a back heel from Invicta’s record appearance holder Micheal Everitt.

The home side then increased its lead during first half stoppage time courtesy of an Ian Draycott penalty.

It soon became three goals in a five minute spell either side of halftime when Yusuff made it 4-0 in the 47th minute as he headed in a Josh Vincent cross.

Paxman then struck again to make it 5-0 with the goal of the game in the 58th minute as he hit a spectacular strike from 25 yards after Ter Horst had initially hit the crossbar.

AFC Hornchurch finished the game with 10 men as Ronnie Winn was sent off in the 7th minute for a second yellow card following a foul on Yusuff. He had earlier been booked for a 32nd minute challenge on Everitt.

The visitors had twice hit the posts through George Purcell during the first half with firstly a fourth minute free kick and then a 37th minute shot after Winn had played the ball back. STAR MAN: Alfie Paxman (Folkestone) ENTERTAINMENT: ★★★★★
