KINGFISHERS PIN HOPES ON LYNCH

- By Dan Lewis

CONOR Lynch’s late goal saw Thatcham pick up a point in their share of the spoils with Winchester City.

The Kingfishers started the first half with intensity and James Tennant went close to handing his team an early lead as he saw his low effort tipped away by keeper Ryan Pryce.

There was controversy midway into the first period after Josh Harfield brought down Thatcham’s James Tennant just inside of the box but referee Neil Morrison waved play on.

The visitors took the lead as Rob Carr’s well-timed flick put Jamie Barron through on goal, the Winchester man finding the bottom corner first time.

In the second half, City’s livewrire striker Simba Mlambo poked an effort wide when one-on-one and in the 80th minute, the Kingfishers made them pay as Winchester failed to clear a deep throw-in and the ball fell to substitute Lynch, who made no mistake from close range.
