Bishop blesses the Ath with point

- By Joe Griffiths

KIERAN Bishop got Grays Athletic a point at the Wallace Binder Ground, as his secondhalf strike made sure the visitors had a share of the spoils.

Charlie Allen had given the visitors a perfect start as he grabbed the opener 11 minutes into the game.

But it quickly turned around in favour of the hosts as they scored twice in quick succession midway through the opening period.

The first came from Maldon & Tiptree’s Laste Dombaxe as he converted a penalty for his side as he brought his side back into the fixture.

And it wasn’t long before they took the lead, as Stephane Ngamvoulou tucked in after 26 minutes to make it 2-1.

But Bishop’s goal ensured both sides took home one point each. Both sides will continue to battle for a spot in the play-off places.

Maldon now sit fourth with Grays just two places, but nine points, behind them in sixth. STAR MAN: Charlie Allen (Grays Athletic) ENTERTAINMENT:
