HORSHAM left it late to defeat and leapfrog play-off rivals Whyteleafe in an absorbing encounter at Culver Road.

The Hornets had enjoyed the majority of chances throughout but were unable to find the breakthrough, with efforts from Chris Smith and Rob O’Toole cleared off the line in the first half.

With the visitors rarely threatening, Harvey Sparks had a chance to break the deadlock early in the second period but instead fired straight at goalkeeper Tyler McCarthy when played one-on-one.
