We threw win away, Flowers

- By Kelly Gilchrist

FC HALIFAX TOWN came from two goals down to salvage a draw against high-flying Solihull Moors.

Second-half strikes from Adi Yussuf, Nathan Blissett looked like wrapping it up for Moors, only for Dayle Southwell and Matty Kosylo to set up a replay on Tuesday night.

“I’m delighted considering the circumstances,” said Halifax boss Jamie Fullarton. “To go 2-0 down, come back and get something from the game, and then be disappointed not to win it.”

Moors started the brighter with Matt Stenson showing early. First, he beat Michael Duckworth, only for his shot to fly into the South Stand, then he dinked a dangerous cross into the box, somehow eluding everyone.

The first chance for Halifax fell for Nathan Clarke. Southwell swung in a cross and found Clarke at the back post, but he couldn’t keep his header down and the chance went begging.

Moments later, James Berrett chipped a ball into the box but Kosylo’s header was weak, giving Ryan Boot an easy save.

The breakthrough came just two minutes after the break, courtesy of Yussuf. Darren Carter made a good run into the box, who picked out Yussuf in the middle who had the simple task of tapping it into the back of the net.

Solihull then doubled their lead on 58 minutes when a low cross from Stenson fell to the feet of Blissett who slotted home with ease.

Halifax were given a glimmer of hope six minutes later when Southwell pulled one back with an outrageous chip from 20 yards which beat Boot all ends up.

And with seven minutes left, the comeback was complete when sub Jonathan Edwards was brought down 20 yuards out and Kosylo stepped up to curl the ball into the back of the net via the fingertips of Boot.

Moors boss Tim Flowers said: “I’m disappointed. We looked good going 2-0 up just after half time but threw it away.”
