BRACES FOR BRAD AND DION BLAST THE BRAKES

- By Alan Jones

BRAD BAURESS and Dion Charles both scored twice as Southport hit five second-half goals to complete tremendous turnaround.

Trailing to a Jack Edwards goal at the break, the Port turned on the style to extend their unbeaten league run to 12, registering their fifth win in seven.

Leamington took the lead ten minutes before the interval, as former Walsall midfielder Reece Flanagan’s deep freekick was met at the far post by Edwards, whose shot was judged to have crossed the line.

Southport introduced Devarn Green at halftime and the substitution reaped immediate dividends, as his run and cross set up Bauress, who turned home the rebound after his initial shot was saved by Brakes goalkeeper Tony Breeden.

Green was to have a hand in three goals, providing a cross on 66 minutes that was touched by Bauress into the path of David Morgan, who scored with a composed finish.

Bauress added Southport’s third, receiving another Green before taking a touch to set himself and find the bottom left-hand corner.

Charles got on the scoresheet after Morgan had combined with sub Jordan Richards, and the winger struck again in stoppage time after exchanging passes with Jack Sampson.
