PHIL FILLS HIS BOOTS IN DARTS’ LATE WIN
PHIL ROBERTS bagged a brace to edge Dartford past St Albans City in an exciting clash.
Both sides attacked with fluidity in a thrilling four-goal first half.
Ben Greenhalgh nearly put the Darts ahead on 17 minutes when his 25-yard freekick went narrowly wide.
Talisman Elliot Bradbrook put the Darts ahead in spectacular fashion on 21 minutes when his 30-yard effort flew past Saints keeper Dean Snedker.
St Albans equalised on 34 minutes when Zane Banton slotted past Darts netminder Bailey Vose from close range.
Roberts then netted his first Dartford goal to restore the hosts’ lead on 39 minutes when he rifled home Charlie Sheringham’s low cross.
Sam Merson equalised from a tight angle in first-half stoppage time after a clever corner move caught Dartford dozing.
St Albans should have led on 54 minutes, but Vose kept Merson’s point-blank effort out.
Merson continued to threaten, shooting over on 73 minutes as the visitors looked the most likely to break the deadlock.
Yet Dartford snatched the points on 88 minutes when Roberts exquisitely launched the ball from distance over a scrambling Snedker.
