3G pitches give an unfair advantage

- GRAHAM GOODALL Eastleigh

I TOTALLY disagree with your correspondent Tony Link about the acceptance of 3G pitches (Fans’ Forum, January 6). They not only give clubs a playing advantage but also a pretty hefty financial advantage that likes of Sutton, Bromley and Harrogate Town readily admit.

These days, grass pitches are extremely well kept and my view is that if you can’t compete on a level playing field, then you shouldn’t compete at all.

When artificial pitches were allowed into the Football League in the 1980s at the likes of Luton Town, Queens Park Rangers and Oldham Athletic it was a disaster. Never again!
