HIGHWAYMEN IN BIG RAID!

Table-toppers hit Dynamo for four in another impressive showing

- By Ross Jackson

MORPETH Town cruised to a comfortable win at Craik Park against a Loughborough Dynamo outfit who will feel they didn’t do their recent form any justice. The league leading Highwaymen got off to a quick start and found themselves in front courtesy of a well-worked setpiece which Ben Sayer floated in and Jeff Henderson powered home with his head. That 13th minute opener was added to moments later from the spot by David Carson. The midfielder slotted home his 20th minute spot-kick after the impressive Sayer had danced his way into the area before being felled by Luke Foster. The visitors, sluggish in the opening stages, found a way back into the game four minutes later, also from a penalty. Ryan Robbins was man to step up and score after Josh Riley was brought down in the box. However, far from galvanising Dyanmo, they conceded again as Morpeth stamped their authority on proceedings. Liam Henderson was the man to benefit, heading home after Sayer’s corner was turned goalwards by Sean Taylor, only for the ball to loop up and be knocked in by the striker on the half hour mark. Despite a five-minute flurry from the visitors in the second half, Morpeth were comfortable in possession and scored again on 66 minutes, Taylor rifling into the roof of the net after Liam Henderson’s shot was parried clear by Charlie Taylor. And that was how it stayed, the table toppers seeing out the victory that keeps them six points clear at the top of the standings ahead of Brighouse Town. STAR MAN: Ben Sayer (Morpeth Town) ENTERTAINMENT: ★★★★★
