NESBITT KNOCKS IN TREBLE

- By Ken Hawkings

SUTTON Coldfield comfortably dispatched bottom-of-the-table

Kidlington 4-2 as they continued their impressive post-Christmas form.

The hosts took the lead when a nice through ball from Ryan Moore reached Ryan Nesbitt, who found the space to slide the ball past Sam Warrell in the Kindlington goal.

But Kidlington pulled level when a great shot from Marvin Martin from 25 yards left Lewis Gwilliams with no chance.

Sutton regained the lead in the 49th minute, however, when Nesbitt hit a ball that swerved and beat the keeper.

A short corner looped in by Letford found James Beresford, who rose above the defence to head home Sutton's third in the 73rd minute

And a failure to clear the ball by the Sutton defence left Anaclet Odhiambo with a simple tap-in, but the Royals’ two-goal lead was restored almost immediately when Max McNulty put Nesbitt through with only the keeper to beat to seal his hat trick.

An early red card for captain Paul Andrews proved crucial as Barton

Rovers fell to a 3-0 home defeat at the hands of Kempston Rovers.

Kempston went ahead on 28 minutes when a deflection off Barton’s Robbie Goodman sailed cruelly over his own keeper and into the far corner.

Barton’s ten men failed to stem the tide of attacks and went further behind on 40 minutes when Dan Olineran's goal-line clearance fell at Kempston's Nathan Tshikuna's feet and he rolled it into an empty net.

Tshikuna popped up again with a thunderbolt shot to make it 3-0 on 69 minutes. And there was still time for Goodman to be the second player to see red for a second yellow card offence with 9 minutes remaining. AFC Dunstable came from behind to topple Coleshill 2-1 on their travels.

The hosts took the lead just seven minutes in when a sweeping move set up Joe Smith who side footed into the top corner from the edge of the box.

Dunstable equalised with their first meaningful attack on 14 minutes when a cross came off the shins of Bernard Christie and fell kindly for Leon Cashman to side foot home.

Neither side looked capable of snatching a winner but on 65 minutes Cashman chased a lost cause and found the net from a very tight angle to claim the spoils.

North Leigh battled hard to pick up a wellearned point against playoff hopefuls

Berkhamsted as they earned a 1-1 draw on home turf.

The visitors were the firsts to break the deadlock after 55 minutes thanks to a cool finish from Will Summerfield.

The Millers made the perfect response, equalising just four minutes later with George Seacole netting from close range thanks to Henry Landers’ effort, keeping them alive at the bottom of the table. Bromsgrove Sporting lost ground on Southern League Division One Central leaders Peterborough Sports as they fell to 3-2 defeat at Dunstable Town.

A late goal from Craig Jones wasn’t enough after a second-half double from Arel Amu gave the Blues a two-goal cushion.

Corby Town strengthened their grip on third place as an Elliot Sandy hattrick set them well on their way to a 4-1 win at struggling Aylesbury.

A treble from Sandy and a Connor Kennedy header were just rewards for a dominant performance from the Steelmen as they made it five wins from their last six.

A late goal from Ty Deacon was merely a consolation for the hosts who were soundly beaten in the end.

Elsewhere a single goal from David Murphy gave

Didcot Town all three points at Thame United as they continue their hunt for the playoffs, while Welwyn Garden City’s match-up against Aylesbury United ended goalless despite both sides going close to breaking the deadlock at different times.
