SAINTS SIGHTS ARE SET ON THE FUTURE
IAN ALLINSON can at last focus his attentions on the future after St Albans City survived another season in National League South.
The Saints lie fourth bottom of the South table when clubs voted unanimously to terminate the current campaign, after an uncertain period of suspension.
It’s put an end to a disappointing season for the Hertordshire side, who struggled throughout but can now start afresh, focusing their attentions on improving at Step 2 next term.
“It might seem strange to be talking about the new campaign with so many issues still to be resolved but at least I can now engage with other clubs about the possibility of pre-season matches, whenever that may be,”
Allinson, the former Arsenal winger, told the club’s website.
“It also gives me time to speak to the players about re-engagements as my attention now will be looking to build a competitive squad for whenever we get back to competitive football.
“As we know these are difficult times for everyone and there is no blueprint for what we’re going through. I’ll be sitting down with the co-owners at some stage to discuss our thought process for the coming months.”
The 62-year-old former Boreham Wood boss is glad to have ‘a little clarity’ about the National League South season, but added: “Obviously we have to move on to a second vote which will decide how to conclude the season; which could be more problematic in terms of promotion and relegation scenarios.”
