BEADLE HAS THE BUZZ T0 BE AT BEES
PETER BEADLE says his red-hot phone is why he’s so happy to be back in management with Barnet.
The 48-year-old has been waiting for his next opportunity since leaving the Bulls nearly two years ago having led the reformed club to a hat-trick of promotions from Step 5 to the National League North with an FA Vase final along the way.
Now he’s been charged with rebuilding the Bees who, despite reaching the National League play-off semi-finals last season, have seen the departure of manager Darren Currie and a number of players.
Beadle is well-known to Barnet fans having had a playing spell there under Martin Allen and he has jumped straight into his new challenge with the season weeks away.
“It’s a club I have an affiliation with, which is nice,” Beadle told The NLP. “The chairman (Tony Kleanthous) was the chairman back when I had a short playing spell but obviously things have moved on to a different level now with the ground and the facilities that it has.
“It’s nice to be back in – and nice to use my phone again! When you’re not involved your phone goes extremely quiet. So it’s nice to have that busyness. Now it’s about putting things in place, getting the players to understand what we’re asking of them and getting in some players. That’s the part we enjoy.”
Beadle, who gave West Ham striker Jarod Bowen his Hereford United debut, has promised fans attacking football.
While he won’t sign players in a rush, he hopes to have some new faces in the building this week.
“Normally you come into a group and you have to find three or four but we’ve got to find a lot more than that,” he said. “But they’re going to be the right type of player and have the right character to match the ambition and drive that we have. It’s about making sure we get the right ones who fit in to how we want to move things forward.”
