JORDAN SEES RED IN DRAB AFFAIR

- By Kerry Miller

SOLIHULL Moors defender Jordan Cranston ensured their was plenty of drama to end an otherwise drab stalemate.

After drilling a golden opportunity to win the game into the side netting, he then collected two yellow cards in two minutes and left his side to play out the last moments of the match with ten men.

It was one of very few talking points in what was a turgid match which occasionally sprung to life only to lapse back into a coma for long periods, particularly in the first half.

Neal Ardley’s side were on a four-game winning streak and with striker Andrew Dallas having netted ten times in a month, their small but noisy travelling support expected to make it five.

Instead, what few chances were created were blown away in the cold and blustery conditions and a 0-0 draw did neither club any favours in the league table.

It all looked promising early on as Dallas escaped the flat home back

line and slotted past Grant Smith but the offside flag was raised.

Yeovil’s Jordan Barnett took an early knock and eventually succumbed to it on 20 minutes and his replacement Lawson D’ath almost made an instant impact but his cross evaded all alike.

By the half hour mark the home crowd were beginning to get restless and when Dallas and Callum Maycock conbined on the right, Joe Sbarra put his free header wide from six yards out to add to their frustration.

The Glovers should have gone in at the break ahead when Charlie Wakefield beat a static offside line on half way and strode clear but with Ryan Boot to beat his shot cannoned off the keeper’s leg and away to safety.

Yeovil began the second half strongly and Tom Knowles twice tested Boot then on the hour with the game opening up, Danny Newton could only find the side netting having rounded Smith and a 0-0 draw loomed large.

Home gaffer Darren Sarll introduced experienced striker Reuben Reid, and he was on hand when Knowles’ shot wide when wellplaced and Wakefield brought a save out of Boot.

Cranston then took centre stage briefly but by then both teams were drifting towards a point each.

Moors boss Ardley was honest in his thoughts, adding: “We were not at our best today and missed two great chances to take the game and then were sloppy at the back.

“Yeovil is always a tough place to get a result but we were in the ascendency without having the quality to win the game with the final pass missing.

“It was definitely two points dropped but we move on.”
